Prof. Jieping Zhu, EPFL Lausanne

Jieping was born in the P.R. China. After undergraduate studies at the Universities of Hanzhou and Lanzhou, China, he moved to the Université Paris XI for his PhD with Prof. H.-P. Husson and Prof. J.-C. Quirion that he successfully finished in 1991. After a Postdoc at the Texas A & M University (Prof. Sir D. H. R. Barton), USA, he started his independent research career at ICSN, CNRS, France where he promoted to a Director of Research, 1st class in 2026. Since 2010 he is full professor at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Prof. em. Philippe Renaud, University of Bern

Philippe was born in Neuchâtel. After undergraduate studies at the University of Neuchâtel, he continued his education at the ETH Zürich through the Ph.D. in 1986 under the supervision of Prof. D. Seebach followed by a postdoc with Prof. M.A. Fox at the University of Texas at Austin. In 1988, he started an independent research program at the University of Lausanne. In October 1993, he moved to the University of Fribourg as an associate professor. Since March 2001, he was full professor of organic chemistry at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He officially retired in summer 2024.
